Rose Meets His Mentor

At this point, most smart basketball people can generally agree that Derrick Rose is going to be a fantastic basketball player. Amazingly, he’s done so well over his first few weeks in the league without any other true point guard on the roster or in the coaching staff to share secrets of the trade. It’s not like running the point is easy. There are quarterback coaches in the NFL, but so far Rose has been on his own.

That all changed late last week when the Bulls signed Lindsey Hunter for the rest of the year.

On top of the fact that he’s the only Chicago Bull with a championship ring, Hunter’s been around for a decade and a half, and he’s already passing on advice to his younger counterpart.

“He’s just like a coach or an assistant coach on the bench,” Rose admitted before a recent game.

“I talk to him a lot in practice. He’s been telling me everything lately, like when we played against Dallas he was telling me about Jason Kidd and what sorts of things I was doing wrong. He was telling me about T.J. Ford and how to stop him on defense… I’m so tall that I should contest his jumpshots, but other than that just stay back off of him.”

derrick rose has always been my favorite basketball player since his junior year in highschool ,reason why cause ever since i have seen one of of his games in high school against oj mayo i just watched him dominate even though they lost and now he is a really good role model that i look up to these days

I know this boy is going to break records..i am a die hard laker fn..but i have to admit that D.Rose has talent..& A.I. & K.B. need to watch their backs.
